Holistic Health and Wellness considers the whole person \u2013 body, mind, spirit, and emotions \u2013 in the quest for optimal health and well-being. Achieving the best possible health involves gaining a proper balance in life.<\/p>

Holistic health<\/a> Wellness views the human being. To achieve holistic health, a certain harmonious interaction is needed between the body, the mind, the spirit, the emotions, the environment, and all the other factors that influence living. Holistic health doesn\u2019t believe in curing one symptom, instead it aims to elevate the whole living system, which is traditionally made of 8 key components. They are known as the 8 pillars of holistic health<\/a>:<\/p>

  1. Physical health<\/strong>: It involves taking care of the physical body, by making sure to get enough sleep, to move and to exercise regularly.<\/li>
  2. Nutritional health<\/strong>: You are what you eat. Nutrition influences physical, emotional and intellectual health. It\u2019s important to consume a diet rich in vegetables and fruits, and low in processed products. Pure and clean drinking water is also a must.<\/li>
  3. Intellectual health<\/strong>: Making sure to challenge the brain daily is essential, either by completing puzzles, or by constantly learning something new.<\/li>
  4. Emotional health<\/strong>: It means developing emotional awareness and intelligence. Allowing emotions to be expressed, recognized and honored. But also being aware of one\u2019s emotional tank, what fills it up and what drains it.<\/li>
  5. Spiritual health<\/strong>: This pillar may mean different things to different people, but we all have that feeling of longing for more in common. Tending to our spiritual side gives us a sentiment of belonging and of purpose.<\/li>
  6. Environmental health<\/strong>: It means being ecologically conscious, honoring the blue planet and its resources while being aware that we are only visitors of this earth.<\/li>
  7. Social health<\/strong>: Humans are naturally social creatures. Tending to our social side makes us feel a part of a pack and a community. Having a trustworthy support system and a fulfilling social life are important aspects of social health.<\/li>

    I have known Derrick Wilkerson for over 20 years. The past 10 years. Derrick Wilkerson has proven to be a tremendous asset to the Bear Creek Church and to me as a pastor. His spiritual gifting\u2019s has served our communities he demonstrates spiritual growth on multiple levels of ministry.\u00a0 One of his greatest assets to the church is in Mental Health services and Addiction Recovery.
